Minutes:
Marting Lawler: Motion to approve the minutes of April 7, 2026. Arthur Athanas seconded. The motion carries (6-0).
Financial Reporting:
Martin Lawler advised financial notes are in the minutes. Expenses in April were Moynihan Lumber and Drain Pro, Irving & Sons for plumbing, and Hawkins for hydroseed on Hole 15, BSC, Cavviccio for the trees, and Wood Trucking for loom on Hole 15.
Projects Status in Process/Updates:
- Calvert between green 8 & Tee #9 – Sean and Jim advised will use timber from the fishing pier.
- Tennis courts resurfacing: Bill advised the invoice is on the mayor's desk for approval.
- Chain link for #15 green 8-foot section completed.
Bill Lowd: Motion to order the 6 ft sections, right and left of the center 8 ft. The motion carries (6-0).
- Jim advised that the shrubs are in for #15 and completed.
- The heating unit upstairs in the ladies' room needs to be replaced. Jim is looking for something; the heat pump had to be replaced.
- The upgrade for the men's bathroom will happen in the winter, the door will be taken off and will open the shower area as the entrance.
- Veranda railings replace height to code: Le Ann had suggested putting some pots and plants (taller plants and something hearty) against the railings; these could work for now. Shared a visual of what it would look like. Bill advised there is credits from Northeast Nursery and we can use the money for plantings in the pots.
- Develop quote to replace roof over the heat plant/enter from the clubhouse; Jim advised they are getting quotes for the roofing.
- Painting the veranda floor– looking for the Colorado person who did painting last year.
- The tennis building will be painted brown to match the main building. Discussion followed on the trim, decided white and think it makes things look newer and cleaner.
- Jim advised on the security camera quote on electrical, which includes conduit and wiring. Jake will install the cameras, will be putting a camera to face the courts, not the parking lot.
Completed Projects
There were thirty-five items noted as completed projects by Jim.
Clubhouse Activities:
Rennet Family Memorial – Kevin asked about the Rennick golf tournament being held to help pay for the clock; Bill gave detail info to the group. Discussed the electrical connection for the clock to hook up from the pro shop to the clock. Will need to get a permit; Chris said we should let Steve Murphy know, will have to dig a footing.
Cart Lease – Chad asked about the status; there is a six-year lease, in year three. Need to get power to the cart barn. Current gas carts are okay, but electric would be better. Would this be a National Grid or Beverly project? Jim advised it would have to come from the state. We do not have the infrastructure; it could costly. Discussion of where we could use CPC money, or get a grant somehow, we have a couple of years to figure it out.
Bill advised he asked Dave Gellineau for the plan for Hole #18; all is still in limbo. Arthur said Tibbetts wants it his way, but the city should advise you are owed money, but you need to come and fix it. Tibbetts is owed the retainer but will only get some of it if he comes back. He will either forfeit it and walk away or come back and correct the mistake. Dave has priority with the city on the trash plan, so we have no answer yet on what is happening with Hole #18.
GFMI Update
Chris Carter advised membership numbers are misleading, waiting on a more accurate number with snowbirds returning. We have invited fifteen more on the waitlist (we did lose a few memberships to Ferncroft).
Chris advised that Chef Chris retired, had been there 20 years. They have hired Jeff Hayward who has experience with golf courses. Jeff and LeAnn also created a new menu, and it looks great. Chris also advised they need a small refrigerator in the kitchen for Jeff; they would like one that goes under the counter.
Arthur Athanas: Motion to purchase a new refrigerator under the counter and across from the grills. The motion passes (6-0)
Mike advised all is good in tennis. A week ago, a sprinkler head blew, but it has been repaired. Four courts have been opened for the first match, and the rest are to open tomorrow.
Martin Lawler: Motion to adjourn the meeting, Arthur Athanas seconded. The motion passes (6-0).
